10, 2007 Meeting Minutes
Striving for a livable community

Meeting called to order
at 5:30 pm and the minutes from the March meeting were read and accepted as
written.
Staff Report:
Lance reported that
there hasn’t been any news about the TGM plan update to the Newport
Transportation System Plan. There is
supposed to be a draft later this month and the NBPAC should be getting a copy
of this draft.
The curb extensions on
the bay front were described and bike rack designs were presented with the
“bike” bike rack design selected as an appropriate rack to be placed near the
curb extensions.
JC Market hasn’t
committed to installing bike racks but hasn’t said no. The committee was advised that they shouldn’t
press the issue.
The walking route from
Lance will be meeting
with the City Manager about LID funding for sidewalks.
Jeff suggests that the
committee update City Council on the committees’ goals and objectives.
Old Business:
Diane reports that
preparation for Bike to Work Month is progressing. She’s met with the City Wellness Committee
and the Newport Chamber of Commerce. A
Bike/Walk To Work Proclamation will be on the next
council agenda.
Ken Smith has been
appointed as a committee member replacing Mary Banvard.
Diane made formal
announcement that she is moving out of the area and has notified the Mayor that
she is resigning from the committee. She
was thanked for all of the hard work that has been put into BTWM and compiling
