City AdministrationThe City of Newport operates under the Council-Manager form of government. The City Manager is the administrative head of the city government, and is appointed by the Mayor and City Council. Jim Voetberg is the City Manager, and he began working for the city on June 1, 2009. The City Manager's staff includes Cheryl Atkinson, Executive Assistant, Cheryl Ewing, Human Resources Coordinator, Richard Dutton, IT Manager, Jim Salisbury, Safety Coordinator, and Peggy Hawker, City Recorder/Special Projects Director. The City Attorney, Penelope McCarthy, maintains an office in the City Manager's wing of the building, although the City Manager and Attorney both work directly for the City Council. |
