NEWPORT READS 2010! is an annual community reading program sponsored by the Newport Library Foundation.

This year Newport will read a book that celebrates the wilderness of the Pacific Northwest coast - The Highest Tide by Jim Lynch.  It tells the story of Miles O'Malley, a teenage misfit who loves the wildlife of the mud flats and tidepools near his Olympia home.

The Foundation is planning a series of events centered around the book.

Local book clubs are encouraged to choose The Highest Tide as their March selection. Copies of The Highest Tide are available at the library and at local bookstores.
